BU and Miami University Happy Hour at Jazz in the Park
National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden (Smithsonian or L'Enfant Plaza on Orange/Blue Lines and Archives/Navy Memorial on Yellow/Green Lines)
The BU Alumni Chapter in DC invites you to join fellow alums on Friday, July 9th for an evening of jazz at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
Enjoy the music of jazz bassist James King and his ensemble while catching up with your BU friends and mingling with Miami University alumni. Light snacks will be provided by the club, and drinks are available for purchase at the Pavilion Cafe.
Keep an eye on the Facebook invite for details about where we'll be sitting. The Garden fills up fast but we'll have some blankets to relax by the fountain!
The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden is located at the intersection of 7th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW in Washington D.C., directly across from the National Gallery of Art and the National Archives. There is limited street parking available. The nearest Metro stops are Smithsonian and L'Enfant Plaza on the Orange and Blue Lines and Archives/Navy Memorial on the Yellow and Green Lines.
Sunday, July 18th, 7:30pm, Tailgate Begins at 3:30pm
DC United vs. LA Galaxy; Screaming Eagles Tailgate
RFK Stadium
 Join fellow alumni as DC United take on the LA Galaxy one week after the World Cup ends! We have seats in section 231/232 (aka The Perch) which is located midfield right behind the raucous Screaming Eagles supporters club section. This section will allow you to enjoy supporting United in the “traditional fashion” that is, by standing, cheering, singing and bouncing all game long. For those with families or who prefer a quieter atmosphere, we also have seats reserved seats in section 139 (aka The Aerie) where there will be a mix of standing and seating. Prior to the game we will have a BU tailgate within the Screaming Eagles tailgate (a DC United supporters group). Bring your own vittles and drinks or sign up for the Screaming Eagles fabulous buffet featuring items such as chorizo, sausage, hot dogs & hamburgers (including veggie versions), BBQ’d chicken, ravioli, pizza, potstickers, Korean beef short ribs, red beans & rice, assorted side dishes, desserts, about 8 kegs of premium and Miller Lite-type beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as soda, lemonade & water.
Beverage service and our BU tailgate begins at 3:30 pm, the buffet opens at 4pm. The buffet will close at 6pm and we strongly encourage you to come earlier than that to ensure there’s still food available. Camping style chairs will be provided and we’re hoping to acquire a party tent as well. Kick off is 7:30pm.
Perch seats are $25 (a savings of $7 off face value); Aerie tickets are $27; tailgate passes are available for the discounted price of $10 (all you can eat & drink). Game tickets can be purchased with or without a tailgate pass. If you are a member of the Screaming Eagles we encourage you to get your own tailgate pass for maximum savings.

BU Socks! That’s Socks!!
Do you play a lot of sports? Looking for some cool knee-high socks to protect your legs? The softball and football teams are joining together to purchase custom, knee-high, sports socks. They are red socks with three small white stripes near the knee and the word "Terriers" going down either side of the leg. If you are interested in purchasing a pair (or two!) please PayPal $8 (per pair) to Aliza Krichevsky at aliza@alum.bu.edu, and give her your size in the message field. Sizes are intermediate (Ladies 5 - 10 or Men's 4 ½- 8 ½) or adult (Ladies 11-12 or Men's 9-12).
Boston University Maryland License Plates!
Show your BU Pride as you drive around the state of Maryland! The DC Alumni Chapter has been trying to establish a Boston University specialty license plate through the Maryland Motor Vehicles Administration for quite some time.
 In order to do so, the Alumni Chapter must demonstrate a minimum of 25 participants via a signed petition. The new BU plate will feature the BU seal on the left with "BU" displayed vertically and a four digit plate number.
The cost for these specialty plates will be $25. For those Maryland residents interested, please contact David Susseles (CGS '95, SMG '97) at dsusseles@yahoo.com with your name and plate number. Please include BU MD license plate in the subject line.
Time to receive your new tags is 8 - 10 weeks once the initial order is placed.
